THE TIRE TRACKS

give him some gas money. Good plan Jim!

John and Sandy Lawrence also made it down to the meeting. What can I say, they are nice people. Sandy gave me a picture of Lou Gray and Harold Newberry taken from the last "Con Can Hill Country Ride". Based on my memory, John and Sandy led this ride for the last two years. The last ride to Con Can was Friday-Sunday March 24-26, 2000. John & Sandy gave me both an email and a "in person" compliment about last month's newsletter. Thanks guys. However, how can you top leading a ride like this two years in a row? To be honest, I'm not sure if I could handle the lead for that long of a ride. Thanks John and Sandy!

Last month I wrote about being bad with names. Well, I saw Emelie and Ed Quin there again this month. Had a chance to "burn one" with Ed Quin, Jack Thomas, and John Lawerence out in the smoking section. I think I'm on the verge of being able to remember the Quin's names now. Also had a chance to sit down and talk with Ed. Ed has been a long time Retread Member. He told me he joined the club in 1975. Very interesting guy. We talked about his motorcycles, (all Suzukis), and talked a little about the Water Buffalo, (2 stroke GT750), he used to own.

Pete Soullas was there without Camille. I got a good picture of him too. Caught him with a big grin on his face! Pete must of felt sorry for his "step-child Gold Wing", since he rode it to the meeting instead of the HD Ultra Classic he bought from Lou Gray a while ago. I was impressed with the alarm system on the Gold Wing. Sounds just like a car alarm with its, (how can I word this tactfully?), "Irritating

Monthly Meeting Review

We had a pretty good turn out at the June meeting. Chuck and Ruby Ehrlund handled the 50/50 drawing for the club. Chuck gave me a ticket because I didn't have any money. I promised to pay him back, but he didn't seem to be very concerned about it. A least its in writing now, so I may not be able to forget <grin>. Thanks Chuck and thanks to the Ehrlunds who have taken care of most of the 50/50 drawings in the past!

Talking about the 50/50 drawing, Linda Beverly got the lucky ticket. The total pot was $55 and Linda was kind enough to donate it back to our club. Thanks Linda! Dave wasn't there because he was away on a business trip. Can't wait until he retires so he can straighten out his priorities. Linda also handed out the "Retreads Membership Directory", which includes the members names, phone numbers and email addresses if available. Please take time and review the list for errors and get back to either the Beverlys or me so we can make the necessary corrections.

Talking about getting priorities down, Jim and Marge Riley also attended. Jim just recently retired. He claims he doesn't have enough money to do a whole lot of riding now that he is not working, (yeah right!). On second thought, with the gas prices climbing to all new highs, I'm not sure if I can afford to do a whole lot of riding either, and I'm still working! Jim says he will have to visit his daughter so his son-in-law can
